 History of the Credit Union

In 1962, these nine men listed below along with Charles Caprio, the first Treasurer-Manager, came together and formed the credit union.

A plaque with their names is displayed prominently in the office along with a plaque dedicated to Charles Caprio who was the manager of the credit union for over 22 years.

Antonio Cafarelli was named the first President of the Board of Directors.

The par value was chosen to be $5.00 which remains the same today.

 Policy

Membership Requirements: No waiting period is necessary to join the Credit Union. A member must be an employee of the City of Revere or a member of the immediate family of a credit union member residing in the same household.

 Benefits

Shares: The Credit Union will match up to $2,000 of a members share (savings) account upon the members death payable to a designated beneficiary. Life insurance benefits for shares is determined by age and amount at time of deposit.

Loans: Loans are insured for up to $25,000 per member for total combined loans. Coverage ends on members 70th birthday. Death benefits are at the Credit Union expense.

Disability Insurance: On loans is available to and paid for by the member. It guarantees monthly Credit Union loan payments after the first 30 days of illness or temporary disability. Pre-existing conditions may be covered in some cases. Premium covers member for the length of the note.

EXAMPLE:

$2,500 - 8% 24 months
$45.58 - insurance premium. This "one time" fee covers you for the length of the note.
$115.10 - monthly loan payment (includes principal, interest and insurance).
$113.04 - monthly loan payment WITHOUT disability insurance.

Applications for loans may be submitted upon joining the credit union. Once a member there is no waiting period to apply.

Loan Types: New Car, Used Car, Auto Insurance, Personal, Bill Consolidation, Share Secured and Educational.

Dividends: Rates change on the 5th of the month - Call for rates. Currently - dividends are paid on all accounts.

Direct Deposit/Payroll Deduction: Take advantage of the convenience of having your loan payments or savings automatically deposited into your account. The "pay yourself" first concept is one of the keys to sound financial planning.

Enterprise Car Sales Program: Members are able to purchase a used vehicle with no haggling and autos which are sold under NADA book values.

Free Life Insurance on Loans: In most cases, up to $25,000 on combined loans until age 70.

Free Life Insurance on Savings: In most cases, matches up to $2,000 of your shares.

Free Notary Service: We have 3 notaries in our office.

Members Mortgage: Deals with Credit Union members when they need to mortgage or refinance their home.

NADA Used Car Values: Check the value of a vehicle before you buy, trade, or sell.

New Car Cost Guide: A valuable tool which allows the member to look at each vehicle, options available with the invoice price and the sticker price plus the destination charge fee for each vehicle.

Mailing of Checks: We will be happy to mail our members a check from their account to their home. No need to come to the office.

Virtual Banking: Go-online to a password protected site to view share and loan balances.
